What’s up, everyone. I’m going to keep the intro short because this issue is about one thing: the Kayak Fishing Dads Retreat is November 5–8 at Lake Marion, and June is the last month to lock in your spot at $500.
Whether you’ve been on the fence or you forgot it was a thing, this is the issue you don’t want to skim. Everything you need to know is below — what it is, what’s included, what people are asking, and how to register.
😂 Dad Joke of the Issue I told my wife she should embrace her mistakes. She gave me a hug. |
Let’s get into it.

The Kayak Fishing Dads Retreat: This Is the One
The retreat is in your inbox today for one reason: June is the last month at current pricing. After this month, the ticket goes up. Cut and dry. If you’ve been thinking about coming, this is the issue.
Quick refresher on what this actually is. November 5–8, 2026. Lake Marion, South Carolina — part of the Santee Cooper system, 170,000+ acres of legendary kayak fishing water. Three nights at the Relaxed Retreat lakeside cabins. Three dinners, group fishing, fireside Q&As with top creators, swag bags, and gear raffles. Four days of fishing, food, fire, and not having to be anywhere or do anything for anyone but yourself.
This isn’t a tournament. It isn’t a corporate event. It’s the Kayak Fishing Dads group getting together in real life. Some of you have been talking in the Facebook group for years — this is the first time you’ll meet at the lake. That alone is worth the trip.
Why Santee Cooper. Lakes Marion and Moultrie make up one of the most legendary fisheries in the southeast — trophy largemouth, blue cats bigger than your kid, stripers, panfish, and structure that goes on for miles. November water is cooler, the fish are aggressive on bait, and the summer crowds are gone. The timing is intentional.
And the math: the ticket is $500. That includes three nights of lodging (shared cabin, your own bed), three dinners, group fishing, the swag bag, and the rest. For four days at a trophy fishery with your crew, it’s genuinely silly cheap — and that number goes up after this month. Don’t overthink it.

The Real Questions
Do I need to bring my own kayak? Bring your own setup if you can — that’s the easiest route. Kayak rentals are also available through Relaxed Retreat if you can’t haul yours down. Ask in the Kayak Fishing Dads group, plenty of folks have figured this out. |
Is this a family event? It’s a guys’ trip. Shared cabins, no shared beds, four days on the water with your crew. The family event is the photo you send home. |
What if I have to cancel? $100 cancellation fee through October 31. After that, the ticket is non-refundable. Standard event terms — book when you know you can come. |
